With privilege comes responsibility
“And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.” Leviticus 10:1-3 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/lev.10.1-3.kjv
The Bible tells us in 2 Tim 2:19 that “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”. While there are lots of benefits and privileges that come from being in proximity to God in the place of service, there is also significant responsibility and accountability. Such a person must be careful to depart from sin and not take the relationship and access to God’s resources for granted. In today’s Bible reading, 2 of Aaron’s sons offered strange fire to God and immediately the consuming fire devoured them. God reminded Aaron through Moses that he will be sanctified in them that come near him. Do you hold a position of authority in the kingdom? Are you charged with a special assignment from the Lord? Are you a Christian in the midst of many unbelievers? We must always be careful that our steps are in complete obedience to God and the resultant actions points the glory to God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for choosing me because I know that many are called but few are chosen. Please help me to walk worthy of my calling in Christ Jesus🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
