The Obedience that moves God

“And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” Genesis 22:16-18 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.22.16-18.kjv

The Obedience that moves God

We have come to know Abraham as the father of faith and we also know that generational blessings have been linked to Abraham. The Bible reading today reminds us of one the main reasons he got those titles. He had exercised a lot of faith in the past, starting with leaving the known (his father land) to the unknown (a land that God will show him) and many more occasions. But the biggest would be the one in which his most beloved son who God had given him after such a long time was now to be the object of sacrifice. I imagine that at this point a lot of us would have said “I have had enough... why give me the son if you are going to ask me to sacrifice him”.... However Abraham was willing to obey to the letter knowing that the God that brought him this far probably had a plan. He followed through and would have killed the son but at the last minute the master-craftsman of the universe showed up as he had seen the extent that Abraham was willing to go. God changed the plan, he provided an alternate offering and then he went on to swear by himself to cement the earlier blessings and then add more perks. Today God is not asking some people to go to that extent, but he may be asking you for that precious beauty sleep to wake up and intercede for someone, that money to be used for kingdom expansion, that time that he gave you in the first place to spend some time in communion with Him, that comfort to go out to win souls. How far are you willing to go for God? He is still in the business of naming generational blessings; and you can be a partaker by going all out in that exceptional act of obedience in the seemingly hard instructions that he has given you.

Prayer: Dear God, please give me the grace for uncommon faith to trust you absolutely even when it does not make sense to my logical mind 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
